2nd Report Cover"Second Annual Report on Fundraising Performance in Ireland"

Launched 22nd September 2011

This Report, sponsored by Ulster Bank and Mason Hayes & Curran, is the second in a series of reports by 2into3 which analyses the fundraising performance of not-for-profit organisations in Ireland. Through the anlysis of over 170 accounts, the findings show an increase in fundraised income of just under 24% for the sector. However, the Report also finds that this increase in fundraising is not uniform across the sector and has been led by increased donations into the international aid organisations with donations to organisations providing domestic services increasing slightly. Overall, there continues to be large variances in performance amongst organisations sector-wide.

"The First Annual Report on Fundraising in Ireland"

2 imageThis study represents the first analysis of the effects of the economic downturn on third sector income. A key finding of the report identifies that philanthropic or fundraised income is down 13% year on year. This research by 2into3 is based on figures from the annual accounts of 80 not-for-profit organisations. The research allows CEO’s and fundraisers to get an overall view of the condition of the sector in 2009, and to determine their own fundraising performance compared to that of other similar not-for-profits.

"Steering your Non-profit Organisation through the Storm"

2 imageThis study looks at the impact of the declining economic climate on the not-for-profit sector.  "As more resources are focussed on immediate, short-term requirements, it is a greater challenge to persuade funders of the merits of supporting longer-term, transformative initiatives. The old adage applies – deal with the snapping alligators that surround you before you turn your attention to clearing out the swamp...

"Collaboration for Greater Impact"

2 imageThis study analyses the potential benefits in collaborative working within the not-for-profit sector.  "Today, it seems likely that donors will be more determined than ever to ensure their hard earned money is being spent wisely, efficiently and appropriately. Donors will be interested in ensuring that more cents in their euro goes to those they want to help, and fewer go to the support the, albeit very necessary, infrastructure through which services are provided...

"Fundraising in a Cold Climate"

2 imageThis study looks at the uncertainty of fundraising in an economic downturn and compares international experience with the difficulties faced by not-for-profits in Ireland.  "This uncertainty comes at a time when many non‐profits are also facing an increased demand for their services and are simultaneously looking at a potential cut or freeze in government spending. So what is the future lik to hold for non‐profits in an economic climate that is becoming increasingly difficult? Is it time togive in to the doom and gloom and resign ourselves to the fact that at the moment, and for the foreseeable future, fundraising is doomed to fail?..
