GOAL - Director of People and Organisation Development
















Established in 1977, GOAL is an international humanitarian agency dedicated to alleviating the suffering of the poor and the vulnerable and is currently operating in 12 countries world-wide. GOAL delivers a wide range of humanitarian and development programmes, ranging from humanitarian relief in disaster situations to supporting the development of healthcare services and building sustainable livelihoods. Since its foundation, GOAL has allocated more than €910 million to humanitarian programmes in over 50 countries.

GOAL employs over 2400 staff globally. 85 staff are based in GOAL’s Head Office in Dun Laoghaire in administrative, programmatic and management roles while over 2300 are based internationally in programme delivery, support and HR roles. The organisation is currently undergoing a period of growth and change. In order to ensure an effective People Strategy is in place to guide the organisation through this period of growth and change, GOAL is seeking to appoint a Director of People and Organisation Development. 

Director of People and Organisation Development 

The Director of People and Organisation Development will have overall responsibility for the development, implementation and monitoring of GOAL’s People Strategy. The post-holder will lead the HR team in developing GOAL’s staff, designing talent management and performance management strategies, improving employee engagement and designing and driving organisational people processes. The post-holder will also lead the development and implementation of people related organisational development strategies in line with GOAL’s strategic plan to create an operationally excellent field environment. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Director of People and Organisation Development will serve as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) sharing collective responsibility with other SMT members for delivering GOAL’s strategy and vision.

The Director of People and Organisation Development will take a leading role in developing and maintaining a strong organisational culture defined and driven by GOAL’s mission and values. The post-holder will have the ability to design and implement effective People and Organisational Development strategies in order to meet GOAL’s strategic and operational needs. He/she will have the ability to proactively identify strengths and gaps within teams and for ensuring appropriate HR practices and procedures are in place across the organisation. GOAL is seeking an ambitious and inspirational leader with prior experience in a senior management level HR role acquired in a not-for-profit, private or public sector background. The successful candidate will be able to drive the successful delivery of GOAL’s People and Organisation Development strategies.
