Leona Kavanagh


Leona Kavanagh is an Associate of 2into3, currently working as Development Manager for the Dublin International Piano Competition. Leona has over 15 years’ experience in the not-for-profit sector, including 12 years in overseas development. Prior to her role at the Dublin International Piano Competition, Leona was Head of Fundraising and Marketing at Trócaire. At Trócaire Leona managed all areas of direct marketing in Trócaire and under her strategic direction, committed giving income grew from €3 million €6 million.  

For many years Leona managed one of Ireland's largest fundraising campaign the Trócaire Lent campaign and under her stewardship it generated in the region of €10 million per year. Internally she was part of the strategic leadership team who project managed this multi-disciplinary campaign and she had direct responsibility for all aspect fundraising, above and below the line, digital and direct marketing.

She built the CRM function in Trócaire and directed the implementation of acquisition and retention, cross-selling and upgrading strategies as well as donor journeys and loyalty strategies. These ensured a continued flow of new donors to the organisation while also optimising support from existing donors. A key factor in her success in this area was a focus on maximising the donor experience.

She has significant brand experience and a strategic ability to looking to the heart of a brand to generate compelling and engaging content to show donors the difference they are making and why their support is so vital.  

Leona received a BA in English and History from UCD followed by a BBS in Business and Marketing from the Institute of Technology. She also holds a Diploma in Digital Marketing.
