Divine Word Missionaries

The Society of the Divine Word is a catholic religious congregation, founded in 1875 by Arnold Janssen. The first community of Divine Word Missionaries in Ireland was founded by a group of German priests and brothers in 1939. The main purpose of this new community was to recruit young men who felt a call to become missionaries as priests or brothers. Many seminarians were trained in Donamon, Roscommon and later studied at St. Patrick’s College in Maynooth, Co. Kildare.


The Divine Word Missionaries is now seeking to appoint an Accountant/ Office Administrator to take manage the completion of all related tasks and to finalize the accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis for reporting purposes.


Accountant / Office Administrator

The Accountant / Office Administrator will be responsible for the delivery of financial functions, through the provision of effective financial accounting systems and procedures. The post-holder will also oversee the administrative aspects of the organisation to ensure they are comprehensive and efficient.


The postholder will be responsible for maintaining the accounts of the Province and its subsidiary companies, including monthly updates, reconciliations, reporting and budgeting, including preparation for the annual external audit and liaison with auditors, annual budgets and management of  the organisation’s cash flow position.


They will also work to provide oversight of the IT function within the organisation, assist the Bursar in implementing recommended governance policies and ensure that the office is maintained efficiently.


The successful candidate will possess ACCA/ ACA/ CIMA or equivalent qualifications, as well as having a proven track record of achievement within a similar role. The Accountant will possess excellent organisational skills and will have the ability to build relationships with stakeholders. They will be an excellent communicator, with a high standard of English.
