Helium Arts is the national children’s arts and health charity and social enterprise, countering the social isolation of children living with long-term health conditions. Based in Mullingar and operating through Hubs currently in Cork and Limerick, they provide a creative community for children of all ages living with long-term health conditions to make friends, have fun, and learn new skills. Through the model, professional artists working with volunteers deliver an “arts on referral” programme which connects children and families’ hospital experience to creative experiences in their community.
In 2019, Helium Arts supported 1,200 children to let their creativity shine, five times as many children than any year previous. The organisation worked with 15 artists and 50 volunteers who supported the delivery of the organisation’s health hubs in Cork, Limerick, and Dublin. Helium Arts is funded through a mix of 3 key areas which are state funding, earned income and fundraised income derived from corporate partnerships in particular.
Helium Arts has developed its fundraising activity over the years and has received support from Business to Arts and the Social Innovation Fund to achieve this. Helium Arts is seeking to appoint a Development Manager to support the scale and growth of Helium Arts new model by increasing the organisation’s level of income and to devise and implement a fundraising strategy.
