Divine Word Missionaries

The Press at Donamon, Co. Roscommon was established by the Divine Word Missionaries in 1958 to print and distribute quality Christmas Cards with the aim of keeping Christ in Christmas. It was a fitting undertaking for the Divine Word Missionaries, which had a strong tradition of using the print media to promote the mission of Christ.

Over the years, the Press grew into an operation which designed, printed and distributed its own cards. In addition to the Christmas card business, the press expanded its range to include Mass Cards, Sympathy Cards and cards for special occasions.

At the height of its production, 6 million cards were produced each year. With the decline of religious orders and the diminishing size of parishes, DWM Cards have had to diversify into more general printing. Whilst Cards are still the mainstay of the business, they also design and print secular cards and take on other printing contracts. These contracts provide additional income and help our profitability in these challenging times. All DWM cards are designed and made in Ireland and are proud to carry the Guaranteed Irish mark.In January 2020, the Press became a Limited Company, trading under the name DWM Cards Ltd.

 

General Manager/Marketing Manager

DWM Cards recognises the need for a focused effort not only on the overall management of the business operations and card production processes but also on the need to maintain existing customer relationships whilst developing new partnership opportunities. The General Manager will therefore be someone who can successfully manage both these areas.

Reporting to the Board of DWM Cards, the postholder will provide line management to staff and ensure that organisational policies and procedures are adhered to. The Manager will also be responsible for identifying, developing, and continually managing all business development opportunities.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of achievement within a similar role, with a proven ability to work on their own initiative within a flexible team structure. The General Manager will possess excellent communication skills and will have the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
