The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation
The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation was set up in 1997 by Jonathan Irwin and his wife Mary Ann O’Brien, in memory of their son Jack who passed away, at home, that year aged 22 months. Today, Jack & Jill is a nationwide registered children’s charity that offers support, advocacy and an in-home nursing care service, including end of life support, to the 360 children under its wing. These are extra special children, under the age of five, with highly complex and life-threatening medical conditions, who do better at home. With a small office based in Johnstown, Kildare and a big reach across the country, the charity mobilises an army of nurses and carers, while funding and operating its unique child and family centred service, seven days a week, with no waiting list.
While Jack & Jill has a strong case for additional State funding, made even stronger by the Covid-19 pandemic, it must raise over €3.5 million every year to continue its critical service. The charity is now seeking a high performing Head of Communications and Fundraising to drive the organisation forward with pride.
Head of Communications and Fundraising
Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will lead a team of six, in addition to two external web and PR resources and will spearhead the charity’s corporate partnership drive. S/he will be responsible for setting, meeting and exceeding agreed fundraising targets and objectives within the organisation and will play a key role on the senior management team at Jack & Jill.
The charity invites candidates with a proven track record of successful campaign management and communications, across digital and traditional media platforms, and who are passionate about leveraging Jack & Jill’s local and national reach in creating, managing and growing its communications and fundraising strategy.
Jack & Jill is seeking someone with exceptional experience of motivating a team, winning major business pitches, managing partnerships and key stakeholder relationships, and a proven track record in communications and fundraising at a strategic level, with a real understanding of the importance of digital communications.
The Head of Communications and Fundraising will have strong experience in both communications and sales/fundraising, will be solution-focused, and have an excellent story-telling ability, both verbal and written. Additionally, the post-holder will be self-motivated and passionate about Jack & Jill’s purpose. The successful candidate will have at least 8 years’ relevant experience, having achieved senior management status already.
