Disability Federation of Ireland

The Disability Federation of Ireland (DFI) is the national umbrella body for Ireland’s main organisations of and for people with disabilities. DFI represents the interests and the expectations of people with disabilities to be fully included in Irish society. It comprises organisations that represent and support people with disabilities and disabling conditions.

 

DFI’s vision is an Ireland where people with disabilities and disabling conditions are fully included and enabled to reach their full potential in the spirit of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

 

There are over 120 organisations who are members or associates of DFI. The organisation also works with a growing number of organisations and groups around the country that have a significant disability interest, mainly from the statutory and voluntary sectors.

 

DFI provides information, training and support, networking, advocacy and representation, research and policy development/implementation, and organisation and management development.

 

DFI is committed to ensuring that it has high quality and effective communication systems in place to support their strategic plan and to represent the interests of those with disabilities in Ireland. To ensure this is achieved, DFI recognises the need to diversify and expand how it generates its income and therefore seeks to appoint a Head of Fundraising and Development on a 3-year fixed term contract.

 

Head of Fundraising and Development

Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the Head of Fundraising and Development will work to diversify DFI’s funding to support its work. They will build strong working relationships with colleagues in DFI, working collaboratively to implement its strategic plan. This is a senior management role with high levels of responsibility and provides the opportunity to contribute to the development of a rapidly growing and changing organisation at a national level.

 

The successful candidate will have 5 years’ experience in a similar environment, with a proven ability to work on their own initiative within a flexible team structure. The Head of Fundraising and Development will possess excellent communication skills and will have the ability to build relationships with stakeholders. The post-holder will hold a full, clean driver’s licence. This role is offered on a 3-year fixed term contract.
